It would be quick work. It should be quick work. Time only needed three days. He only needed three days to bring in the closure that he yearned for so desperately, for both him, and for those he had failed. To finally move on from his grave mistakes.
Though, as the cycle never ends, Time tries to keep secrets hidden, cryptic realities covered, and lives protected.
All as they descend closer to the truth, and into madness.

My take on the Chain's first meeting You know how most first meetings have them go from era to era picking them up Well if you reread the start it's highly implied what happened is that 8 of them came through a portal and ended up in Time's era Where he had to go find and round up

With the dying of angels, Legend felt his wrist burn and twist with more of the leaking sludge. Staring down and laughing, watching and waiting, Legend spewed more and more.
More and more of him spilled out, more of the radiance left him, more of the prismatic shards and pieces trickled out of his seeping, gaping wounds.
He needed more to come out. There was still so much left in him.
He could feel it coursing through, traveling and running through his veins, under his skin and in his stomach and Legend needed it to come out.
To go away, go away forever and ever were it spilled and leaked out of him, where he pressed harder and cut deeper did more spill out, did he feel more of himself, his body returning to him.
It span with his drill, into his skull, his mind, his body.
It kept drilling and drilling and Legend kept pulling it out and out and out, though to no avail.
It coursed under his feet, dripping over the floor, spilling and spilling and spilling.
He threw it up, cried it down, bled it out.
It was still in him.
