They go to unwind by the lake near the camp. They like Gwen’s friends but they’re grateful to get away from the hubub. They both take turns having a very jarring realization.

Eyes flashing, Suzie dunked Lorena back down, and Lorena resurfaced, delighted, spluttering, and breathless. And then, seeing Suzie laughing harder, any lingering breath was sucked right out. Punched right out.
Her head tilted back, soaked curls clinging to her neck, eyes glittering, and beyond beautiful. Lorena knew Suzie was a beautiful girl. Suzie never let her forget it... but, but it was different now, when Suzie wasn't making an active effort to be lovely and still achingly was. More so, Lorena was quickly learning that there was a difference between aesthetic appreciation to true attraction.
