It reminded him of the scribe virgin’s home. How everything was bright white except a few of the chosen’s coloring and birds.
“That wasn’t here last time.” Mary observed. “I would’ve remembered it for sure.”
“It looks… magical?” He called the beast forward, just enough for his senses to be heightened. And it purred.
So he did the only reasonable thing.
He wrapped his hand around the stem and pulled it from the ground. The scent was sweet, like plums and something else. Though he couldn’t figure it out.
“For you!” Rhage held it out to Mary.
She took it with a smile. Her pale, but not as pale as when they met, cheeks turned pink and she held it to her nose and inhaled.
The scent grew stronger even when it was in his shellan’s arms. It was overwhelming. The plum sweet smell became the only thing he could smell.
