"Pause," Barbara said, holding up one of her hands and using the other to massage her temple, "What are you talking about?"
The kid flushes, ducking his head. "I'm so sorry! I had a script and everything and then as soon as I got here I just forgot it!" He clears his throat and looks back up at her with a determined expression "I know you're Batgirl and I really, really need your help because Batman's lost himself in his grief and Gotham can't take him."

Batman is abusive, so instead of going to Dick Grayson, Tim Drake goes to Barbara Gordon when searching for a solution to Bruce's grief spiral.

Summary
Ten years in Arkham gives a man a lot of time to think and reflect. Ed came to some tentative, fragile conclusions during that time- and they strengthened the moment he laid eyes on Oswald after that terrible decade apart.
The confession itself is immaterial. It's the response that truly matters. And he knows Oswald so well, he's ready for however it may go.
Right?
(Currently a One-Shot but I have ideas for prequels and sequels which may or may not come later. I just love writing fics where Ed actually like, experiences some emotional consequences to all of his pushing Oswald away)

Gotham's dark gloomy sky perfectly represented the feeling of every night the Waynes and other affluent families would have as they gaze into the streets, not a bright shining star to be seen, just some visible sitting there from far away watching as chaos unfolded beneath with a few strays shooting from above. It perfectly represented the unrelenting clash of classes that was apparent in a divided Gotham City that was slowly falling further into darkness as no one dared to help
